Is There A Lack Of Big Names In VR Porn?
Recently, somebody over at Reddit asked why there weren’t many big names in VR porn, and that most of the actresses were B or C level in terms of fame and popularity. That got me thinking as to how true the claim is. For my part, I would rather bang a fresh 18 year old talent like Czech angel Rika Fane, than a 30 year old ‘superstar’ such as Riley Reid with a trout pout (not that she didn’t make some great movies for the likes of Badoink closer to her prime).
But regardless of my personal taste, it seems that the majority of VR porn fans do not dispute that there is a shortage of big name talents for them to fuck inside their Quest 2 headsets. The most common cited reason appears to be the rise of OnlyFans, which has skewed the market by allowing the more famous pornstars to make a lot of money from home produced content for their fan subscribers. VR porn studios are still not as big as the really big players in the adult industry, so find it harder to offer the $$$ that the top actresses are now demanding. In fact, it’s a well known fact in the porn world that a number of famous stars have left the studio inustry behind completely after finding that OnlyFans pay more. Of course, models can only really make a killing on OnlyFans when they have established their names. So we might also expect to see talent not hanging around so much in VR porn. Let’s hope that’s not the case with young Rika Fane. On the more positive side, perhaps it’s even the case that there is more talent coming in to porn, both 2D and VR now, because of OnlyFans and the need for girls to establish their brand first.

Looking more generally at the depth of talent in both mainstream porn and virtual reality porn, another factor at play is the huge popularity of live streaming sex cams. For every regular porn actress active today, there must be at least 100 ‘webcam girls’. Girls can now livestream themselves for fans, from the safety and comfort of their own homes, in HD, 4K, and even now VR. There is no camera crew or producer to make themselves feel self-conscious or telling them what to do. And if the cam model does want to put on a sex show, they can do it with their boyfriend. The tipping model of today’s webcam shows means that their earning potential is almost unlimited. And even here OnlyFans plays a part, as the webcam model can link to her account from her cam page or in her chat room.
Of course, there have been suggestions that there will be a plethora of young Ukrainian talent entering the porn world due to the tragic events unfolding in their country. Here, porn studios must tread carefully for fear of being accused of ‘sex trafficking’, or simply taking advantage of poor refugees.
If there is a shortage of ‘big names’ in VR porn, I expect the situation will change as the audience increases, potentially massively so over the next year or two, with expected major new headset releases from Meta, PlayStation, and even Apple and Google.
